Softball Update

As many of you know, several men from RBC participated in a community fall softball league. The last games of the season took place this past Tuesday in a double header, and the team that several of our men played on won both of those games, the last one on a walk-off single by Paul Hurst to score Matt LaCava from third base. It was great fun to win in that way, and we’re thankful for the grace to have been able to play well, hopefully with attitudes that have reflected Christ. So, in terms of statistics, a 5-2 record is, by some measure, a success. But more importantly, we were able to build relationships with the men from RBC who participated and with those not from RBC who were also on our team. By God’s grace, Christ was glorified, many of us were edified, and those on our team who do not know Christ were pointed to Him.

Men’s Softball update

Several of us from RBC have been privileged to enjoy being a part of Brighton’s fall men’s softball league. Our team consists of several men from our church, and a few others who are friends of men in our church. But our team isn’t a “church team”, per se. Our goals going into this were:

1) Live out the gospel as we play to God’s glory
2) Play to the best of our abilities to the glory of God
3) Meet people in our community
4) Have fun

Thus far, by God’s grace, we’ve been able to do that, and even haven’t lost a game yet (Here are the standings to prove it – we’re the “Bible Church” team, even though we submitted a different team name: The Moosen). We’ve played 3 so far, and look forward to another game tonight at 6:30. Continue to pray with us that God would use our efforts in a game like softball to build relationships with one another and others in our community for His glory and the furtherance of His Kingdom.
