First snow

We’re starting this blog to keep everybody updated on what God is doing here in Colorado as we seek to plant a church in the southeast part of Brighton.

We’re (Todd, Carissa, & Brode) living in an apartment in Thornton for a few months while we try to find a house in Brighton. We have an offer on a house that is a short sale, so we’re waiting to hear from the bank as to whether or not we’re going to get it. Ryan & Danielle Fisher are in the same position. In the meanwhile, we have to keep looking for other houses. We’re thanking the Lord that Danielle officially secured a job as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver. Carissa has a good lead on a dental hygiene position too, so God seems to be providing in these ways, and we’re very grateful. We’re trusting him to do the same with a house.

Today, we got our first snow, which is apparently the biggest snow of the season, potentially dumping a foot or more of snow, and it’s very windy. Don’t let the picture deceive you though. It has been sunny and in the 60s or 70s most of the time since we’ve been out here, and the snow is supposed to be gone by the weekend.

Brode

The adjustment seems to have been hardest on Brode and consequently on us as we have the privilege of dealing with him. We think he’s on the upswing though, but he fell on the corner of a table last night and gave himself a good cut right along his eyebrow. Thankfully, it’s closed up nicely, and he’s loving the snow today.

We’re praying for the Lord to connect us with people whom we can serve and who might be part of the new church plant. While we pray, we’re trying to meet people as much as we can. I’m (Todd) working on preliminary stuff for the church, like getting this blog up and running among other things, as we hope for actual people to occupy our time. So, if the Lord lays it on your heart, pray for diligence in the work right now and for people that we can help to know and follow Jesus Christ.

I think that’s all for now, and we’ll do our best to continue to post updates of what God is doing in our lives and in this work in Colorado.

Praying for the both of you and little Brodes eye. :( Loved the picture of the snow storm. Can’t wait to hear how God will answer your prayers concerning housing. He does all things well, doesn’t he?

Joanna Macht

Hi! My name is Joanna Macht and i have recently moved out here to CO. My parents moved out here over ago and still havent found a church they want to attend. A friend of mine told me he knew someone that knew about you guys planting the church. The churches I have looked up around here dont seem to be the type I would want to attend. I went to Hampton Park when I was living in SC, but attended some at Heritage and really enjoyed it but I didnt know anyone. I also attened Bob Jones for 2 years, and am finishing a degree in elementary education through a Christian university online. I also worked at the WILDS for 4 summers! I say all that to say I would be interested in helping out if needed. Please let me know if there is anything I can do!
